About
Soma I. Majeed is a wildlife researcher, conservationist, green entrepreneur, and university lecturer dedicated to protecting Kurdistan’s biodiversity. Since 2018, she has conducted field research across the KRI, using camera trapping and modern techniques to study wild mammals and their habitats, particularly poorly documented species. Her work combines research, conservation, education, and public awareness, with a focus on habitat protection, native forest restoration, wildfire prevention, biodiversity databases, and protected-area planning. As a pioneer of wildlife ecotourism in the KRI, Soma promotes sustainable wildlife tourism that connects people with Kurdistan’s wildlife, landscapes, and natural heritage while supporting local communities and conservation activities. Through this work, she aims to inspire future generations to value and protect Kurdistan’s natural heritage.
