Two independent sightings of a Zagrosian (Persian) leopard were recorded within the same week along a mountain corridor near Amedi — one from a research camera trap, and one from a community photo submission through this site.
The Zagrosian leopard is Critically Endangered across its range, and confirmed sightings in the Kurdistan Region are infrequent enough that each one meaningfully updates what's known about where the species still ranges. Both records have been logged against the species' distribution data.
If you believe you've photographed a leopard anywhere in the region, please use the Collaborate button on the Wildlife Map to submit it — sightings like these directly shape ongoing conservation priorities.
